Kappa Sigma Hazing Policy
Reprinted with permission from the Bononia Docet
Hazing is defined as an infliction of physical or mental harassment and is specifically prohibited as a component of membership in Kappa Sigma.
Hazing runs contrary to any concepts of brotherhood. Hazing is wrong. Hazing demoralizes, creates a false sense of respect for members, creates poor brothers and adds nothing toward becoming a better man.
The only way a member can get respect is to earn it. Good brothers are educated to be responsible brothers and better men, not trained or hazed. It is for these reasons that the Fraternity has such a strong policy against hazing.
Conduct which represents hazing is illegal. Most jurisdictions have laws which make hazing a crime. Universities and colleges prohibit hazing, often with expulsion from school as a sanction. Kappa Sigma will remove brothers from membership in the Fraternity for violations of Kappa Sigma standards of conduct or local or university rules on hazing.
